Attempted Rape and Screaming

as jws were were told that a woman had to scream if she was threatened with rape.

then some articles seemed to say that it was not mandatory but recommended and then it seems that the society reversed itself again by suggesting that it was ultimately up to the female as to whether she screamed or not........at this point in time, if you were to discuss with your child the options that she might take, what would you recommend?

would you still feel that screaming and fighting is the best avenue to take or would you think that there's nothing that you could suggest if such a terrible thing were to happen, that her life is the only thing that is important?

There was a study done awhile back (I don't remember the source.) that in the instance of being in a situation where a rape may occur. The victim was better off yelling "Fire!" then screaming or yelling rape. More people come to the rescue of people in the dangerous situation of being in a fire before they would help someone being raped.

Sad but true.

Also, as stated, self defense techniques and learning to fend off an attacker is a great way to protect and learn how to handle yourself if this horrible predicament is ever brought before you.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to carry a weapon of some sort either (mace, handgun, etc.)

The Idea of God.

the idea of god is either a fact,like sand,or a fantasy,like santa.. the idea of god has guided or deluded more lives,changed more history,inspired more music and poetry and philosophy than anything else,real or imagined.it has made more of a difference to human life on this planet,both individually and collectively,than anything else ever has.. to see this clearly for yourself,just try this thought experiment:.

suppose no one in history had ever conceived the idea of god.now,rewrite history following that premise.the task daunts and staggers the imagination.

.from the earliest human remains----- religious funeral artifacts-----to the most recent wars in the mideast,religion----belief in a god or gods----has been the mainspring of the whole watch that is human history.. if the idea of god is a fantasy,a human invention,it is the greatest invention of all human history.. there are only two possibilities,"to be or not to be",that is the question.. blueblades

No dispute there. An invention (if God is invented) that we take on faith, and that is so real to so many. Our own currency, The american dollar says "In God we trust" even if you don't. You go to court and you have to swear on a bible. Even if you don't believe in it. So, this God belief is the greatest invention (again - if it is invented) the universe has ever known.

Or, if you take Santa and move the "N" to the end you get Satan. Good Vs Evil

What does that have to do with anything? Nothing. Because according to your question. There is no concept of Satan or God and we are now going to try and rewrite a history or make one up based on the fact that God was never written about or created on paper or anywhere else in history.

So where do I start? I don't. Except to say, I guess the first question that started this whole thing in the first place:

"Where did I come from?"

Now we go back in time and we kill this guy and tell him to keep it to himself because of the mass confusion and the books that will be written and the wars and killings because of this being that is going to come into our conciousness now, because of this age old question.

Or..... God steps in at this point and speaks for himself. Now there's the answer. No more guessing. No more questions? No more wondering is this piece of parchment inspired or not. The big man(or woman, or sheep, or blob, etc...) speaks for himself (herself/sheepself/blobself.etc.).

How's that for an answer.

Do you still believe in God?

i'm a recent departee and am now re-evaluating all my previous beliefs and there's none more fundamental.

however, i'm not sure where to start: i'm sure i don't need to say there's an enormous amount of nonsense out there.

frankly, in spite of their other stupid teachings, i am considering reviewing again the articles in wt library as i think they do try to sincerely prove the existence of god.

O.k sorry, I had to put my scene up. Perfect question for Freddy's famous quote.

Anyway, My thought is there is an energy force in this universe. And I do think it used an act of creation. Whether that act involved evolution, I am not sure. But I don't believe the bible account is factual. More mythilogical. Surrounding the truth or hiding it, who knows?

Now, not to steal your thunder "IT support", but God or no God, are we dead when we die or does our God belief change this also?

hey everybody, i don't know if this has been talked about before, but here is an amazing case that is documented and took place in the seventies.

Yes, I agree Nathan the film should be treasured. So, like I said this could be a hoax. If everyone involved in the party was in on it is another matter. Reading about it like I said, it looks like they wanted to prove something psychologically. Then they got more. ????????? If actually performed and not acted out.

I too am a fan of Penn & Teller. Also I am well aware Houdini debunked almost all seances and the likes of pychics. I was interested in this case because of the fact of it's psychological aspect. Then again, a hoax is a hoax. There is a very good book (totally fiction) by David Ambrose called "Superstition" which fictionalizes this account. There is also many studies being conducted on this subject of "Parapsychology"

Oh, also I am very familiar with the fairy incident. They pulled that off for awhile too. I didn't look at your link yet but if I recall The bellybuttons turned out to be pinheads on the photographs.

The above is a really interesting link on the subject of concioussness-related physical phenomena. My whole interest is if the concious is doing this. Even mind over matter, or telekenisis. (Which is an entirely different study) What does that say about our physical realm, or energy level of the universe? Ghosts could be just another by-product of the mind. However there is something then going on beneath the surface of what we call reality regardless. What is the cause? That is the question?

Actually the guy that wanted to be the EATEE had issues. Obviously. He didn't mind being killed then eaten. Now, if the EATEE wanted to be Eaten by the EATER while still alive. That's different. That sounds more like S&M. However, the EATER would eventually have to stop eating the EATEE because there would soon be none for the EATER to have of the EATEE. He would die anyway. So this case actually sounds more like assisted suicide and then the EATER enjoying the EATEE after the kill. (without funeral costs or burial, hell that's a savings, if you ask me) Oh well, to each his own.

I like pork myself. Then again, when the EATER was asked what the EATEE tasted like, he said... "pork".

Zero, you hit it on the head.

....the Governing Body is the only source of interpretation of the divinely inspired word of God the Bible. Sorry, I cannot accept that. I cannot bring myself to fathom how I could now ever again believe that the sole interpretation of the word of God the Almighty creator, the instruction manual of the Universe, the only key to mankinds ultimate salvation, rests in the hands of a group of 12 men (no women, mind you) who live in New York....

They are NOT the source. First of all as you said the woorld population is stagering. Everone can not be wrong except for JW's.

Second, there's enough research showing the origin of the bible itself being a man made book. An account of history and beliefs. Some fact and some myth that has been passed down through the ages, interpretted many ways by many faiths. God can NOT condemn someone for a taught beleif system, especially when it comes to being brain washed by a cult.

There is so much to learn and know. Just keep up what your doing, you are out of the matrix.

Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you will find comfort here. As stated, there are many who went through what you did. It is a wonderful thing that you are now awake to the "real" world. Just remember the society loses it's most intelligent people all the time. We are the ones that now know that this is truth. The free minds way of life. God wants us to search and seek (something the society shuns upon) and find ourselves and our truth. This is different for everyone and happens differently for everyone. Best wishes for you on your journey. Trust me, it only gets better from this point forward, not worse. Stay active with this site and I think you will find great comfort and friends and laughter (the best medicine).
